Lauded as the largest indoor agricultural event in America, the 106th Pennsylvania Farm Show is back this week after going virtual last January due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the theme “Harvesting More,” this year’s Farm Show aims to celebrate the contributions of Pennsylvania’s $132.5 billion agriculture and food industry.

To commemorate its return, let’s take a look at some Farm Show-specific stats:

The Building

The Farm Show Complex and Expo Center holds more than a million square feet of space, including 11 exposition halls, three arenas and more than 10,000 exhibits.

And for out-of-towners: the parking lot boasts more than 8,900 parking spaces, according to the Department of Agriculture.

The building plays host to approximately 6,000 animals and more than 500,000 Farm Show visitors each year.

Cash Crop

You might be surprised to learn that Pennsylvania’s cash crop is mushrooms. According to an NPR report, nearly half of America’s mushrooms come from Kennett Square, Pa., in Chester County.

Food & Drink

Any seasoned Farm Show visitor knows that sampling Pennsylvania-produced food and drinks is the zenith of the Farm Show experience.

To that end, the department reports that the public drinks 100,000 Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association milkshakes each Farm Show!

It’s not easy keeping up with the demand for food at the Farm Show either. It takes an estimated 2,000 volunteers to successfully run the Farm Show’s food court.
